Fun facts about the olm
The ones Sammy likes best. She tells them in the game, too.
Long ago, floods washed olms out of caves, and people thought they were baby dragons!
An olm can go about 10 years without eating anything at all.
It may live to about 100 years, longer than any other frog, toad or salamander we know.
One olm hardly moved at all for more than seven years!
Its skin is so pale and see-through that people nicknamed it the human fish.
It keeps feathery red gills its whole life, like a baby that never grows up.
It is almost blind, but it can still feel light, even with its skin.
It finds food by sensing the tiny bit of electricity that living animals give off.
Riddle
Can a friend guess it?
Read the clues to someone, one at a time, without saying the animal. How many clues do they need? Fewer is better, just like in the game.
I spend my whole life in water, deep under the ground where it is always dark.
I can go about ten years without eating anything at all.
My eyes are hidden under my skin, but I can still feel light with my skin.
Long ago, floods washed me out of caves, and people thought dragons lived down there.
I'm pale pink with red feathery gills, and my skin looks almost like a person's.
Sammy might be thinking of an olm.
In Thought Zoo, Sammy picks an animal and you ask her yes-or-no questions to find it. You'll find the olm in the Croatia adventure.
