Fun facts about the tuna

The ones Sammy likes best. She tells them in the game, too.

  1. A tuna can never stop swimming, because it breathes by pushing water through its open mouth as it moves.

  2. Its muscles, eyes and brain stay much warmer than the sea around it, which is very rare for a fish.

  3. It can zoom as fast as a car on a country road, making it one of the fastest fish.

  4. Tuna have swum all the way across the Atlantic Ocean in under two months, and then come back again.

  5. Its fins fold down into little grooves in its body, so it stays super smooth when it speeds.

  6. Big tuna push little fish into a tight ball near the top of the sea, and birds swoop in to join the feast.

  7. Its eyes sit flat against its head so they don't slow it down, and it hunts using its sharp eyesight.

  8. Grown-up tuna swim back to the same sea where they were born to lay their eggs.

Riddle

Can a friend guess it?

Read the clues to someone, one at a time, without saying the animal. How many clues do they need? Fewer is better, just like in the game.

  1. I live far out in the open sea and hunt smaller fish and squid.

  2. I swim across a whole ocean, then return to the sea where I was born to lay eggs.

  3. I can never stop swimming, because I breathe by pushing water through my open mouth.

  4. My muscles, eyes and brain stay much warmer than the sea, which is rare for a fish.

  5. I'm a huge, speedy fish with a dark blue back, and people love eating me in sushi.

Sammy might be thinking of a tuna.

In Thought Zoo, Sammy picks an animal and you ask her yes-or-no questions to find it. You'll find the tuna in the Croatia adventure.
